ARGENTIC TO DIGITAL. After experiencing digital camera for the first time in 2002, I bought and tried again an argentic camera in 2004. One more time, developing silver films was too expensive. In 2005, I finally abandoned argentic camera for my first D-SLR, a Nikon D70 (Nikkor AF 28-80mm F3.3 | 5.6G & Nikkor AF 70-300mm F4.0 | 5.6G). |

SIGMA TO NIKON. In late 2005, I have ordered my first Sigma lense, a 70-200mm F2.8 EX IF HSM. That was another world compared to my first Nikon lenses. After that, I have bought a Sigma 80-400mm F4.5 | 5.6 EX DG OS in 2007 and a Sigma 17-70mm F2.8 | 4.5 DC MACRO in 2009. After four years, I was not satisfied anymore with my Sigma lenses. The construction of Sigma's lenses appears to be less resistant than Nikon as my experience has shown. The 80-400 was not up to my expectations. This lens was too slow and the OS system (Optical Stabilizer) was too noisy and not efficient as I expected. Between the end of 2009 and mid-2010, I have bought a complete Nikkor lenses line to cover a range from 14mm to 600mm and sold all my Sigma lenses. Today, I work exclusively with Nikon gears. |

GITZO & WIMBERLEY. My professionals telephoto lenses weighing from 7.2 lb for the 200-400 to 11.2 lb for the 600mm, I need something solid to support these big guns especially the last one. That's why I'm now equiped with a Gitzo carbon GT2541 tripod and a Wimberley II - WH200 head to obtain movement as fluid as possible. The Wimberley Head is a specialized tripod head for telephoto lenses. Its gimbal-type design allows you to rotate your lens around its center of gravity and thus easily manipulate very large lenses. |
